Medicare does cover therapy and nursing services through Home Health, however Medicare does not cover the rent and services provided by the Assisted Living community

The average length of stay in a memory care is 2 - 3 years. However, there are residents who live & thrive in memory care facilities for much longer. 

Is memory care covered by Medicare?

Memory Care in an Assisted living facility is not covered by Medicare but services from Home Health and Hospice that provide services to residents in a Memory care are covered if ordered by a physician and approved by Medicare.

What is the difference between a nursing home and a memory care facility?

Both nursing homes and memory care facilities have staff available twenty four hours a day to provide personal care to residents. Nursing homes provide nursing services to their patients where at memory care facilities and assisted living nursing services must be provided by a licensed nurse from a home health or hospice agency.
